Collaborative Research Center 1112 - Nanocarriers: Architecture, Transport, and Topical Application of Drugs for Therapeutic Use
Emphasis of the research program of Collaborative Research Center 1112 (CRC 1112) is the investigation of the fundamentals for treating inflamatory skin diseases by drug loaded nanocarriers. Institutions contributing to CRC 1112 are, besides Freie Universität Berlin, Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin, Helmholtz Zentrum Geesthacht in Teltow – Institute for Biomaterials Research and the University Potsdam. CRC 1112 will be funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG) for 3 years and 9 months starting on October 1, 2013. The Speaker of CRC 1112 is Eckart Rühl, Professor of Physical Chemistry at Freie Universität Berlin.
The efficient uptake of drugs into skin is of central importance for the successful topical and local therapy. The goal of CRC 1112 is to concentrate the drugs at the site of action and to minimize side effects on organisms. This requires to optimize the nanoscopic drug carriers as well as the concepts for topical dermatotherapy.
