Course contents:
The objective of the method forum is to introduce the typical in-vitro dissolution methods which are used to characterize the drug release from different pharmaceutical dosage forms, focusing on those which are used for dermal products.
The topics of the method forum will be:
1. Theoretical background of the different in-vitro dissolution test equipment: USP Apparatus I (basket method), USP Apparatus II (paddle method), USP Apparatus IV (flow through cell), Franz diffusion cell, Sirius inForm and the pharmacopoeia requirements for each dissolution test method
2. Live demonstration of each of these instruments in the laboratories including:
- Building up and preparing to use the equipment, focusing on the choice of accessories, critical points and the troubleshooting for each one
- Quick dissolution experiment will be performed on each equipment
